Embodied Expression
An evening of movement, voice & connection
Part of A Decade of Voices — celebrating ten years of WomanSpeak
“The body was never the enemy. It was the doorway home.”
― Deva Arani
“The worst part of embodiment is being unseen.”
― Akwaeke Emezi
“Some wisdom lives in your body before your mind can explain it. Trust what your bones know.”
― Lawrence Nault
The body. The voice. The heart.
An evening to bring them back into alignment. 🤍
We'll dance and let the body speak, play with spontaneous speaking in a circle that cheers you on, then gather over curry, chai and something sweet. Expect deep connection, real courage, and so much fun.
Part of A Decade of Voices — celebrating ten years of WomanSpeak in Brisbane.
The evening, gently unfolding
We move. A safe, unselfconscious space to dance and let your body speak before your words do. No choreography, no getting it right — just you, the music, and permission to take up space. And if dancing feels like the edgiest thing to be seen doing... you're not alone. However you move — flowing, keeping time, or quietly finding your way — is already enough.
We speak. A name is drawn from the hat — the thrill of who's next? — and when it's your turn, you'll choose three topics from the hat, and speak on it for two - three minutes. Spontaneous, alive, and gentler than it sounds, because you'll be held by a room that's cheering you on. You'll learn to clarify a thought under pressure, trust what rises, and truly listen as other women do the same.
We gather. Curry and rice, chai, and something sweet to share.
What you'll take with you
A safe space to express yourself through movement
The art of deep listening
The skill of speaking spontaneously, with clarity
New women, real connection, and a room that feels like home
A delicious light dinner, chai and sweets.
And... so much fun
